Charlie Ryan-Kane to Judge Top Films in Italy

Written on the 17 June 2015 by scotch

Two budding filmmakers and an aspiring young actor are preparing to rub shoulders with some of the best in the business when they travel to Italy for the largest film festival for children.

Charlie Ryan-Kane will join two other students, all 14, to help select the top films at the Giffoni International Film Festival next month. The trio will be the only Australians on the judging panel. They were chosen as part of a cultural exchange program between the Adelaide Kids Film Festival and the festival.

Charlie, a Scotch College student, hopes to become a director or work behind the camera at sporting events.

"I'm really excited and looking forward to meeting other kids that like to do the same thing I like to do, like camera work and the technological side of film making," Charlie says.

Kids Camera Action film school director Chloe Gardner established the Adelaide Kids Film Festival in 2011 and struck up a partnership with the European counterpart two years ago.

The Giffoni International Film Festival is in southern Italy, July 17-26.
