Finalists in UN Competition

Written on the 22 October 2013 by scotch

Hannah Short (Y11) and Henry Blacketer (Y12) recently won the right to represent South Australia in the National Finals of the United Nations Youth Australia Evatt Competition. The Evatt is a Model United Nations Security Council diplomacy competition for students in Years 9-12. More than 2,000 students compete in Evatt each year. It aims to educate young people about Australia’s place in the world and empower them as active citizens by developing public speaking, negotiation, teamwork, research, and diplomatic skills.

Working their way through a series of state based competitions, Henry and Hannah were judged to be the most 'effective diplomats' and were awarded 1st place in the State Finals. They now get the opportunity to travel to Perth and participate in the National Finals held over six days in December. Henry also won the award for Best Speaker in the State Final.
