Lucy's days filled with fun

Six months after first picking up a volleyball, Lucy Knight has been selected to represent South Australia at this year's Australian Junior Volleyball Championships.

Lucy, of Torrens Park, started playing volleyball after the South Australian Sports Institute identified her as a future star of the sport. This month she was chosen to be part of SA's Under-15 team, headed to the junior competition being held in Queensland, from September 25 - October 1.

"I was very excited because I just went out there and tried my best, it is so great to be a part of it," Lucy, 14, says. When Lucy isn't on a volleyball court, she can be found playing basketball and netball for both her school and a club.

The Year 8 student at Scotch College spends more than 12 hours each week training in the three sports and dreams of playing for Australia.

"I like all of them, but I can't really decide which one I want to pursue," Lucy says.

"I really want to continue playing all the sports for as long as I can, but I would love to get to the Olympics for basketball or volleyball and Commonwealth Games for netball. I don't really mind which one."
