New Heights in French

Written on the 15 July 2013 by scotch

This year, Scotch students have continued to build on our history of major achievements in French language studies. Not only has a Scotch student received the highest award in SACE Stage 2 French in the last two years, this year a group of younger students have also made their mark in the subject.

Under the guidance of recently appointed French teacher Christophe Pasquier, students took part in the Language Perfect World Championships, joining 225,000 competitors worldwide. Some outstanding results were achieved by Scotch students, all of whom are non-native French speakers.

Isabelle Blacketer (Y10) attained an Elite Award, putting her in the top 0.3% of entrants worldwide. Gold Awards (top 2%) were achieved by Amy Day (Y10), Jaxon Cousar (Y7), Fergus Scott (Y7), Katie Newton (Y7) and Simone Richards (Y8), while Silver Awards (top 5%) were achieved by Georgia Wilson (Y8) and Erin Cameron (Y7). The students were presented with their certificates by Prinicpal Tim Oughton at the end of semester Academic Awards Assembly.
