Sarah Snook Wins Best Actress at Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards

Written on the 11 March 2015

Former Scotch College student Sarah Snook (2005) took out best actress at the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards, just over a month after winning the same honour at the AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) Awards.

The 2008 NIDA graduate, who went to Scotch College, is currently in the US filming the Danny Boyle-directed Steve Jobs biopic with Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet.

She won universal praise for her gender-bending performance in the Australian sci-fi Predestination, with her co-star, Ethan Hawke, calling her performance "one of the most incredible I have ever been a part of".

"It's unlike anything I've seen before," Ethan said at the time.

Other winners were Jennifer Kent who won best screenplay for the SA-made horror film The Babadook, while Rolf de Heer's Charlie's Country won best film and best director.

Best actor award went to Russell Crowe for his role in Gallipoli saga The Water Diviner filmed around Burra and in the Flinders Ranges.
