Scotch mates step back in time

Written on the 1 March 2017 by scotch

Ben Francis and his mates may not have been born in the baby boomer era, but the barber shop-style quartet have no problems belting out classic tunes from that period.

The 60 Four, which comprises Francis and friends Kyle Hall, Lachlan Williams and Jordan Tomljenovic, has been performing tribute songs from the 1960s and '70s for two years. It formed during a senior music class at Scotch College and has since performed in London and New York. Next week, the boys will bring their tribute show to the Salisbury Secret Garden, singing songs by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Monkees.

"I'm always saying to the boys that I wish I grew up in the '60s because the music back then was so much more intelligent and nicer compared with music today," Francis, 17, says.

"I'm really looking forward to performing our show at the Secret Garden because I think it's going to be an amazing atmosphere."

The show is the Salisbury Institute at 17 Wiltshire St, Salisbury, on Saturday at 5.30pm. Adult tickets are $33.
