Understudies line up to follow Sarah's Hollywood star

Written on the 15 October 2015

Ten years after leaving Scotch College, Hollywood actress Sarah Snook yesterday returned to give a master class to students hoping to emulate her brilliant career.

"It's the strangest feeling, it's very surreal and a little unbelievable as well," she said.

"When I meet with the students now I feel like I haven't even graduated."

The 28-year-old SA-born actress, currently seen in hit Australian family film Oddball, also stars in The Dressmaker with Kate Winslet and in the Tolstoy-based miniseries The Beautiful Lie, beginning on the ABC on Sunday.

She is here for the Adelaide Film Festival opening tonight.

Snook is grateful for the school scholarship that allowed her to pursue the interest in drama she had picked up from her older sister, Bec. She saw her in an amateur production of Peter Pan and was hooked by the magic of
theatre.

At 17, she got into the National Institute of Dramatic Art, where she learnt from masters like head of drama Tony Knight in Adelaide next month for his own series of master classes whose knowledge and love of theatre was passed on to her.

"He had a really keen sense of what is truthful, and what isn't, in a performance," she said.
