Scotch College Adelaide is an independent, co-educational day and
boarding school offering an outstanding education from
Early Learning to Year 12
Scotch College Junior School educates students from Early Years to Year 6 in a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where good manners and respectful behaviour are expectations.
The Junior School is set on picturesque grounds on a separate campus to the College's Middle and Senior Schools, and features a mix of modern teaching facilities, open playing fields, sports courts, playgrounds and gardens that are traversed by Brownhill Creek.
The first years of school life are some of the most important so students at Scotch are immediately encouraged to start learning, communicating and moving beyond their comfort zones to develop confidence, but not arrogance.
Class sizes are deliberately kept relatively small to enable teachers to cater for individuals and to personalise learning activities depending on what stage each student is at on his or her learning journey.
Highly skilled home group teachers are supported by an extensive range of specialist staff from curriculum coordination, language and physical education teachers to music, ICT and visual arts which helps to identify every child's strengths and areas that need extra attention. We are committed to Positive Education programs, and this helps create a harmonious, caring, and happy campus.
The Junior School is underpinned by a wide and varied curriculum from R 4. This places great emphasis on individual skill development and helps advance student engagement, behaviour, work output, literacy, numeracy and overall enthusiasm for learning. Academic rigour is a key feature, as students strive for 'personal best' achievements.
Technology is also embedded across all curriculum areas through the use of computers, interactive whiteboards and iPads, supported by a full-time ICT specialist teacher giving students the skills and knowledge required to be successful 21st century learners.
Outdoor learning and an extensive array of co-curricular opportunities are also offered which serve to establish an outstanding education platform which students can use as a springboard for their futures.
