Leadership

Leadership is “the lifting of people’s vision to a higher sight, the raising of their performance to a high standard, the building of their personality beyond its normal limitations” (Drucker 1985).

Independent learning is a key part of an ongoing life long process, encouraging students to understand ways to apply and assimilate the knowledge they are acquiring as they grow toward adulthood.

At Senior School, Year 12 students are offered four key areas of leadership opportunity. They are:
  • College Captains:  a male and a female is elected by their peers and staff to be ambassadors and role models for the College, they lead by example amongst their peer group and represent all parts of the College.
  • Student Action Team: elected by students and staff to work within the areas of Environmental Sustainability, Community and Building, and Media and Events.  They take responsibility for coordinating students to be involved in fundraising, the student newspaper, environmental issues, community support and other areas as they emerge.
  • House Captains: two House Captains are elected to each of the six houses. They meet regularly with the Head of Senior School and discuss ways to develop and promote House spirit and student well being within the College.
  • Captains of Sport, Performing Arts, Boarding, and International Students: these captains are appointed to ensure specific groups within the college are represented at committee decision-making level.
