9@Scotch is the hallmark experience for Year 9. A detailed summary of the Year 9 curriculum can be viewed here.

Our kids are entering a world that is exciting, disruptive, exacting and filled with exponential growth and change.

By the year 2025, 47% of jobs undertaken by people today, including many current high paying professional roles, will be automated. In a breathtaking world of change and opportunity, careers that will flourish will undoubtedly require high levels of social interaction, creativity, mobility and dexterity.

In the not too distant future, we can see the norm for our workplace interactions being global in nature. If we add in the likelihood that many of our children will be their own boss, with a portfolio of diverse income streams, then their future becomes a little more complex than ours. They may go on to work in a role that is yet to exist.

It is unlikely that they will claim their first paycheck from flipping burgers or delivering newspapers. Their world will be suffuse with technology, requiring savvy communication and real time solutions for people they may never actually meet in person.

Growing numbers of professional firms are now employing people based not only on their academic and career achievements, but on emotional intelligence, initiative, leadership potential, public speaking skills and customer relations. Thus, it is being thought more and more that a narrow, selective education is not the preparation for the emerging, rapidly changing professional world.

How then do we prepare our young people with the skills, aptitudes and world view necessary for their participation in a globalised economy?

If you would like your child to learn to be a creative, critical and lateral thinker; who values the importance of relationships, is a calculated risk taker and understands the diverse needs and ways of being in our world, think Scotch.

Breadth of curriculum, wide co-curricular offerings and a rigorous curriculum embody a learning program that has wellbeing at its core; for it is only when we are at our best that we can support others to be theirs.

Our Middle School years are key to helping our kids unlock their future. At Scotch, we are about recognising what happens in the world and giving our students the skills they need to work effectively in their senior years of schooling, strengthening the foundation for future success.

We know it's not enough to only be academically tough; our students need so much more to make their mark on the world.

The Scotch Middle School embraces technology, provides diverse contexts for innovation and creativity, and challenges students to 'try everything' including 9@Scotch; the hallmark experience of the Middle School.
