Scotch College is governed by a Council of Governors according to the Statutes. The Council is responsible for the governance of all affairs of the College.
Council members are elected for terms of three year and positions become vacant at varying times to ensure that there is continuity on the Council. Vacant positions are advertised in Scotch Reports. Nominating candidates are required to complete a questionnaire and to submit a C.V. when nominating. Nominations must be proposed and seconded by a sitting Council member.

The subcommittees have other members who are not members of Council. They are appointed either to provide specific expertise, or to represent a section of the Scotch community.
