Year 7

Home/ Current Parents & Students / Curriculum Information / Year 7

Our Year 7 students are assigned to a Home Group. This is the home base for these students and provides them with the security of a special place that is their own. They will have either one or two teachers for a substantial part of the day. They will study English, Mathematics (and sometimes Science), Society and Environment and Health Education with the Home Group Teacher or Home Group Team Teachers in their own classroom. In all other subjects, Year 7 students move to specialist teachers and specialist areas of study.

2009 Year 7 Course Information, Sport, Dance, Music and SPACE forms can be downloaded before making your selections and returning them to the Head of Curriculum. Books are purchased through Lighthouse Books.

As an integral part of the College’s policy of integrating Information Technology across the entire curriculum, all students in the College purchase a laptop computer on entry,  to be used in class on a regular basis.

Printed information Information about the laptop computers available to students will be provided to parents prior to students' beginning Year 7.

Another important part of our Year 7 program is a tour of the national capital which all Year 7 students attend. This annual event is organised in relation to curriculum offering so bookings of venues, transport and accomodation is based on 73 students and 5 staff (a 1:15 ratio). Follow the Canberra Trip link for more details.
