At Scotch College homework is set for a number of reasons:

Junior School Homework is set by teachers and the format within a week can vary. All students are encouraged to read nightly. Homework requirements for students in Years 3 - 6 will be entered in the diary daily.

Year 1 nightly reading and spelling lists

Year 2 nightly reading and spelling lists

Year 3 20 minutes Monday to Thursday and 10 minutes reading

Year 4 25 minutes Monday to Thursday and 15 minutes reading

Year 5 25 minutes Monday to Thursday and 15 - 20 minutes reading

Year 6 30 minutes Monday to Thursday and 25 – 30 minutes reading
Students in Years 5 and 6 may find that they have some weekend homework when they are working on projects or assignments that are nearing completion.
Middle School and Senior College At the beginning of each week/cycle teachers will aim to set the work that needs to be completed by the end of that period of time. The following daily maximum amounts of time for homework at each year level act as a guide:
