The group of international students and exchange students currently enrolled at Scotch are a diversity of nationalities including: Korean, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese, Maldivian and German. Some students attend Scotch for only one Semester on a short term exchange visit, or decide to stay for five years immersing themselves in the English language and Australian culture.
As international students they are learning to live, study and make friends in an English speaking country. It is difficult for them at times but students receive the full support and encouragement needed at Scotch.
Our international students act as ambassadors for their countries and share their country’s culture, customs and history which adds to the learning experience of all students. In turn they learn about Australian history and culture, and many have enjoyed sharing in an Aussie BBQ and holding a koala.
Throughout their education at Scotch the international students work towards improving their English, achieving their best grades and developing wonderful friendships that will become international friendships once the student has returned home.
When asked what five things they will take with them from their time at Scotch College, many have answered; English, friendship, better study skills, increased knowledge and a great cultural experience.
In completing their education at Scotch, students will be encouraged to achieve their best possible Tertiary Entrance Ranking which will then provide them with access to study at Australian Universities. Scotch students have traditionally been very successful in achieving excellent Tertiary Entrance Rankings.
