Scotch College Adelaide is an independent, co-educational day and
boarding school offering an outstanding education from
Early Learning to Year 12
Scotch College Senior School educates students from Years 10-12 where the overarching focus is on teaching self-reliance and responsibility to help students achieve long-term success well beyond their secondary education. Excellent academic results characterise the rigour and core focus of the final three years.
The Senior School curriculum is diverse and dynamic incorporating a balance between traditional and contemporary subject pathways to accommodate all students.
In Year 10, students commence their three-year journey towards their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) accreditation. The College's Personal Learning Program which comprises "real world" work experience and community service, personal development, learning styles and study skills promotes student understanding of life beyond school. Year 10s are also given a chance to attend an unforgettable school camp on Goose Island near Port Victoria regarded as a rite of passage each year for all who visit.
In Year 11, students are presented with an extensive range of subject choices to complement their study of compulsory numeracy and literacy programs, with these choices helping shape the next step to University or TAFE or the workforce. Year 11s also undertake their SACE Research Project a detailed self-directed study in an area of particular interest to the student.
In Year 12, more than 30 subjects are offered to cater for a wide range of interests. Students are given every opportunity to succeed in their studies with extra time allocated in the tuition program for subjects and additional academic support offered to complement classroom learning.
Sustained excellence in student performance throughout the Senior School is achieved through exceptional teachers, excellent support services and a House system that focuses on strong communication links with families to support students.
Time and guidance are given to promote independent learning while the College's innovative Futures Centre provides students with extensive support as they transition out of school into the next phase of their lives.
Scotch College endeavours to teach, guide and encourage students to become vibrant scholars who are able to learn independently, respect the rights of others and who are willing to serve the community and be passionate about life.
"The education opportunities at Scotch help students to excel by giving them the tools to explore their inner strengths, strive for their goals and achieve their best. The College has an excellent reputation for academic results and, more importantly, developing students as fine young people ready for future challenges."
