DARE: The Centenary Campaign
A bold vision to enhance our students’ educational experience for a dynamic future
The College first announced the “DARE: The Centenary Campaign” at its August gala and is already more than halfway toward its $10 million goal. The funds will be used to establish a comprehensive and integrated Wellbeing & Sports Centre that supports and enhance our wellbeing offer for all year groups, and to support Scholarships through the Foundation’s endowment fund.
A daring project such as this takes many hands and we cannot do it alone. A number of individuals and families have already made a very bold commitment to the campaign. Our current Leadership donors are joined by over 100 staff members, Council members, parents, Old Collegians and grandparents who have demonstrated their partnership though early gifts or pledges.
The Wellbeing & Sports Centre - Bringing the unicorn to life!
The proposed Wellbeing & Sports Centre is going to be the biggest, most complex and most ambitious project the College has undertaken since the initial purchase of Torrens Park Estate in 1918. We expect to have the building ready in late 2021 and absolutely ready for the beginning of the 2022 academic year.
This construction will cost just over $26M, while the other redevelopments will require us to spend another $9 million. We will pay for this through savings that we had already put aside, smart annual budgeting, borrowing when the interest rates are at their lowest, and grants. We will also need the help of each and every member of our community. Your philanthropy will take this endeavour from good to great.
Scholarships – Enabling diversity and creating a rich tapestry of college life
Recruiting and retaining a diverse range of students who are not able to afford the Scotch experience, remains an integral part of our strategy moving forward. Creating this robust, varied and challenging learning community of future global leaders is only possible with significant investment from our community.
Our target is to increase our scholarship support by at least $3M by 2022 to enable the College to continue to attract and retain high-achieving students. Only with your support, we can significantly boost Scotch’s capacity to remove barriers to education and allow students from a diverse range of backgrounds to thrive and excel.
What is the difference between a Capital Campaign and an Annual Appeal?
Annual fundraising and Capital Campaigns play specific, critical and very different roles in advancing an institution’s culture of philanthropy. At Scotch, annual appeals are recurring fundraising efforts for specific projects, typically smaller in size and value. In giving to the annual appeal, our emphasis is on participation, celebrating every gift no matter the size. In recent years, we have seen the Scotch community of all ages, from ELC to grandparents, rally together to see us achieve 800-1,000 gifts each year and a range of immediate short-term projects delivered.
A Campaign is a multi-year initiative aimed to achieve extraordinary results. Capital campaigns are cyclical and help position the College for the future. As such, gifts to the campaign are exponentially greater than an individual or family’s typical annual contribution. DARE: The Centenary Campaign will support a new building facility a Wellbeing & Sports Centre, as well as build on the scholarship endowment. Our success relies on everyone to participate and give generously.
