Academic Matters, Term 3 Week 1

Parent Teacher Nights

This term there will be four nights where you will be able to discuss the progress of students. Yes, we have continuous reporting where assessment tasks are given individual feedback, but the opportunity to meet teachers face-to-face strengthens relationships and our feedback culture.

The four nights are as follows:

  • August 7 – Year 12 only (non-exam subjects)
  • August 14 and 16 – Year 7 – 11
  • September 11 – Year 12 (exam subjects). This is held after the trial exams

Please note: Research Project teachers will be available on August 14 and 16

The two nights for Year 12 is based on providing more information around the projects, folios and investigation work, ensuring that deadlines are met and providing advice around any issues.

Subject Choices for 2018

Last term information was provided to students in Year 10 and 11 about subjects, SACE and post- secondary pathways. There will be a parent information night on Wednesday August 2 for Year 10 2018 in the lecture theatre at 7pm.

All students (Year 7 – 11) next week will receive an email where they will be able to select subject choices for 2018. Parents will receive notification of the start of the process via Care Monkey and we ask that once you have chosen subjects with your child/children that you sign off through Care Monkey to acknowledge that you have been involved in the process.

There will be some new subjects on offer for 2018:

  • Fashion Design will now be offered from Year 9 – 12
  • Health at Year 12
  • Media Studies at Year 11
  • Students studying Film and/or Design at Year 10 will be able to be involved with the Centenary Project in 2019
  • Advanced Analytics at Year 9
  • Language offering at Year 7 will be French and Chinese
