Academic Matters: Week 4

Academic Matters: Week 4

Over the last few days all of students are either getting ready for exams, finishing off assessments, or looking forward to starting a new year level.

The Year 10s will start their examinations on Monday with English, Psychology and EAL. They then go to Goose and start their Integrated Learning experience. Students will receive feedback on their exam performance via seqta. If they need to make changes to their subject choices for 2021 students should come in and see either myself or Mark Horley.

Year 11 will commence exams on Monday November 23 and finish on Thursday November 26. The majority of the exams will be held in the Year 12 common room, and students are expected to be in school uniform. Feedback on the examinations will be provided in seqta.

If students need to change their choices for 2021 then please make an appointment to make the changes.

A comprehensive parent handbook has been developed by Cher Little, Warren King and the Development team and it contains lots of information about processes and procedures in the College. I want to highlight a change for 2021 around booklists.

This year we will only have booklists at Year 11 and 12 only. Students in Year 7 to 10 will have a fee charged to their disbursement account in January and it will be in the range $90 to $150, depending on subjects. All students study Mathematics and Science, and these curriculum areas are now moving to online texts. Languages at year 8/9/10 – students will have a text, and this will be charged accordingly.

At Year 10 students will need to purchase a graphics calculator - Casio Graphic FXCG50AU.

Stationery is listed in the parent handbook and you can buy what is needed for your child from local suppliers.

This change will mean that our students will have the codes to their resources right from the start of the year and students will be able to start learning as soon as possible.

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to ask.
