Academic Matters: Week 5

Academic Matters: Week 5

Today we had 32 members of Council, SLT and committee members join our Senior school classes as part of the ‘Learning Walk’.

Over the last few years this has occurred in our Junior and Middle Schools but covid meant that we couldn’t do this event last year. Members were asking students questions around six focus areas from technology use, engagement and feedback. Once the responses are collated then our Chair of EdCom, Annette Fidge will report back to the school on the findings from the walk.

This time of the year, for semester subjects is where students have been consolidating their assessments either through performances (Dance and Drama) or by investigative work in Mathematics and the Sciences. So, it’s a busy time for all.

Year 11s have exams starting on Monday June 21 in the Chapel and Year 10 start semester tests on the same day in their classes. The timetables for both year levels will be in seqta from next week.

53 of our families tuned into an elevate webinar on ‘Memory and Effective Revision’, if you would like to revisit this then you can find the link here.

The next webinar on June 2, will be building on the skills covered in the memory webinar and will be focussing on Exam Preparation. With exams fast approaching, this will be a fantastic session for parents to tune into to help their child navigate this time. They will run through:

  • How the top performing students prepare for exams.
  • The type of study should students be prioritising to maximise success.
  • A revision roadmap for students to plan their revision over the coming weeks.

Parents can register here.
