Academic Matters: Week 7

Academic Matters: Week 7

As we get closer to the end of the term, students are getting ready for their exams and end of semester assessments. So how can everyone help here?

Teachers are available for extra help and support, students should create a study timetable and parents need to be there to offer their guidance and support on the homefront. Elevate have been running information sessions for parents as well and last night 53 parents participated in the Exam preparation session. If you missed it then the link is here. The final webinar is on June 16 and will focus on Stress and Wellbeing – how to help parents recognise their child’s symptoms of stress and help them develop positive habits to enhance wellbeing. Parents can register here.

Planning for 2022 will start to take place in week 10 this term.

Year 10

After the Year 10 semester tests Heads of Faculty and myself will give presentations to students about Year 11 subjects and their flow through to Year 12 on Thursday June 24. The future planning for Year 10s and parents evening takes place on Thursday June 24 where information about the SACE and what pathways are available over the next few years. This will be done via a webinar and details will be sent through to closer to the time.

Year 11

Year 11s on Friday June 25 will have representatives from Adelaide University, Flinders University and UniSA to speak to the students, letting them know what types of courses are available and all about university life. The Year 11s will also have time to work on their Research Project throughout the exam week.

In Term 3, Wednesday July 28 a webinar will be held about Year 12 subject information and future pathways.

Year 12

Students have already had sessions with our careers counsellors but we hold a webinar for parents on Wednesday June 23 as by then we will have the most recent updates for tertiary entry requirements. Information will be sent to you shortly on how to register.

Year 9

In the first week of next term, Tuesday July 20 a webinar will be held for Year 9 parents for the start of their SACE journey. Throughout the first few weeks of term, I will speak to all of the students from Year 7 – 9.
