Academic Matters: Week 8

Academic Matters: Week 8

As we get closer to the end of the term, students are getting ready for their exams and end of semester assessments.

So how can everyone help here? Teachers are available for extra help and support; students should create a study timetable and parents need to be there to offer their guidance and support on the home front. The Year 10 and 11 examination timetables can be found in SEQTA.

Planning for 2021 will start to take place next week. After the Year 10 semester tests Heads of Faculty and myself will give presentations to students about Year 11 subjects and their flow through to Year 12. The future planning for Year 10s and parents evening (via zoom) takes place on Thursday 25 June where information about the SACE and what pathways are available over the next few years.

Year 11s will finish their examinations on Thursday and also have time to work on their Research Project throughout the last few days. On Friday morning I will provide information to the students about their choices for 2021. It has been pleasing that many students have already started to think about next year and beyond.

Next term SACE information talks will be provided for Year 9 parents Tuesday 28 July and for Year 11 parents Thursday 30 July. Again, we will use zoom for these meetings to enable parents to join in the conversation from their kitchens! Over the first few weeks of term 3, I will speak to all of the students from Year 7 – 9 about their choices and selections for 2021.

Staff are currently putting together semester reports for students from Year 7 – 12 and they will be available in SEQTA from Friday 26 June after 4pm.

Two of our staff – Julia Vine and Kara Cleary will be going on maternity leave at the end of the term and we wish them all the very best. We have employed Kristi Mulvihill to teach Outdoor Education and Kirsty Hart to teach Agriculture, both are very experienced teachers. We also welcome back Marty Coombe from LSL. As we have a change of semester then there will be changes to teachers from Semester 2 as students start their new elective choices.

If you have any questions, then please make sure that you contact me.
