The Andy Thomas Space Foundation Schools Challenge

The Andy Thomas Space Foundation Schools Challenge

A team of three Year 8 students, comprised of Amy Wallace, Anastasia Athanasiadis and Millie Hodge, were successful in their application of the 2021 Andy Thomas Space Foundation Schools Challenge!

Thanks to their proposal and application earlier this year, Scotch was one of the three SA metropolitan schools to receive a $5,000 grant to implement their proposal, linking space science/systems to addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals!

The Andy Thomas Space Foundation is committed to promoting and supporting the highest quality space activities in Australia to drive progress in education, research and innovation, to ensure that the space sector is a key contributor to Australia’s economic transformation.

The team has been facilitating numerous Space challenge related activities over the past 6 weeks with our Year 5 cohort and their Science unit – ‘Our Place in the Solar System: Space Exploration – a necessity or an extravagance?’ These activities have included workshops, career pathway expos, expert presentations and more!
