Bringing More STEM and Technology to the Ag Farm

Last week we were thrilled to welcome Doctor Roberta De Bei to Scotch so she could work with our Year 10 Agriculture students.

Dr De Bei is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, Faculty of Science The University of Adelaide. She is also a co-inventor of VitiCanopy, an image-based App to measure grapevine canopy size and assess vineyard variability in real time.

Dr De Bei spent time with the students to discuss vine balance and digital/precision technologies for information-driven vineyard management and demonstrated methods of capturing images of the vineyard and use the data to map information from photographs, for the ongoing management of the vines at Scotch.

But wait, there's more! Roberta is ALSO a Superstar of STEM for the 2019-20 program, an initiative of Science and Technology Australia aimed to increase the public visibility of women in STEM.

Thank you for the visit Roberta - what a magnificent ongoing partnerhsip!
