The Dangers of Misinformation

Recently Scotch was lucky enough to host Dr Melissa-Ellen Dowling, an academic specialising in foreign interference and digital information operations.

During a lunchtime session, Dr Dowling answered many questions about cyber-attacks, misinformation, and the importance of critically consuming media. The aim of this session was to better inform some of Scotch’s students of the dangers of misinformation and foreign interference.

The session was organised by the school’s Political Society, which includes Toby Cawson, Winter Birkett, Sophie Laycock, Eliza Hall, Nick Vrodos and Hugo Bailes who are pictured with Dr Dowling at the session.

The Political Society aims to run many more events over the course of the next couple of years, possibly involving events for both the upcoming State and Federal elections.
