A Global Service Learning Invitation

A Global Service Learning Invitation

This year for the first time, a group of 11 dedicated Year 12 students, along with staff members Pepita March and Shannon Davey are undergoing a global service initiative. This is a legacy the class of 2017 is establishing for future Year 12s who want to contribute their time and energies to a developing international community as a part of our undertaking to serve communities locally, nationally and internationally.

Originally connecting with a community school in the Philippines, we are unable to travel there due to increasing concerns about safety and terrorism threats. This was a significant setback for the group. However, we will now be travelling to Laos with travel partner company Rustic Pathways to provide support in infrastructure development and interactions with local communities. This trip occurs over three weeks in January 2018.

However, we would like to dedicate our fundraising efforts to the Philippines community, to provide them with building equipment and materials to increase the quality of education at the school. The community has recently been ravaged by a monsoon and requires assistance in rebuilding some of their infrastructure and farm. You are warmly invited to the “Mystery Gourmet Dinner Party” to raise funds for this cause. You will be treated to pre-dinner drinks and a gourmet meal at the home of a year 12 student. There is also the chance to win a Phil Hoffman Travel Lifestyle Series Italian Cooking and Dining Experience for 12 people, along with many other prizes. If you are unable to attend the event, a donation following the same link would be greatly appreciated. The team are very excited to contribute as meaningfully as we can to this community, and your support will be imperative in this.
