Goose Preparation Camp 2021

Goose Preparation Camp 2021

Recently the Year 10’s at Scotch College went on a Goose preparation camp in order to learn new skills that would be applied in the future.

During this camp we visited local indigenous sites on Point Pearce where Uncle Eddie and Nana Peg explained the of the site as well as telling us stories. Through these activities we learnt the significance of many spots as well as a few indigenous words along the way.

Whilst on this Goose preparation camp, all Houses individually had a fun day on the water doing aquatic activities. These activities consisted of Kayaking, Sailing and Snorkelling. The students house would split in two and rotate water activities.

For kayaking each student had their own kayak, instructors gave students time to paddle around the bay or raft up and run along everyone’s kayaks without falling off!

The next experience that we had was the opportunity to do sailing. We divided ourselves up into groups of 3-4 and got to control our own boat by using the rudder, jib sheet and mainsail.

We followed each other up and down the bay with the support of the instructors working for the Port Vincent Sailing Club.

Lastly, we did snorkelling, we got to swim underneath the jetty on the bay and use snorkels efficiently!

Overall it was a fun learning experience for all of us in Year 10!
