The Penultimate Week

This is the last Torrens Park Campus Enews for this term, and what a term it has been!

Full of celebration and challenges. Our students, staff and parents have all worked hard to ensure we get the most out of a Scotch Education. Tomorrow’s Festival day for the Scotch 100 will be a fantastic community day and the campus is abuzz with activity even in the midst of wind and dust!

Our College Captains, Samuel Subramaniam and Lalla Nugent have had an incredible week. On Tuesday they flew to Canberra and were hosted at Parliament House by Rebekha Sharkie for the tabling of the Budget and you can read more of their experience in this edition. Today along with the Senior School Student Leaders they organised 30 activity groups for the campus during House time. This was an idea developed at leadership camp last year where the Class of 2019 wanted to develop closer ties and lead programs without staff involvement. It was a fantastic session with karaoke, outdoor games, indoor mindfulness activities, documentaries, sharing views on topical issues and so much more!  A great Friday has been had by all.

I would like to invite all members of our community to join us on Tuesday 16 April at 4.45pm at Centennial park for the annual Flag laying Ceremony. This is an important undertaking by Scotch students, their families and staff each year. We have a short commemorative service followed by the laying of 4000 flags on the graves of those who have served. It is an honourable and worthy opportunity for us to come together and recognise the service of others for our benefit. Please join us.

Tomorrow we will see the best of Scotch. It makes me proud to be associated with such a fine organisation. I tell potential students and their families that I have worked in several of the southern hemisphere’s great schools across Australia and New Zealand and by far and away Scotch has something that is most unique. It is that difference you will see tomorrow not only on show but in the way in which we come together to recognise all that has come before and the potential for what is to come.

Let’s have a fantastic celebration!
