Rowing Camps Report

All Scotch rowers took part in January camps to maintain fitness and develop skills over the holiday break.

These camps are a great opportunity to develop friendships and a key highlight of the rowing season.

The senior’s and intermediates travelled to the Glenelg River in Nelson to take part in a challenging week, developing as individuals, in crews and squads. Many crews pushed themselves to see good results, using friendly competition with other crews as motivation. The Senior Boys and Girls have developed in both strength and technique, after completing a solid week of endurance training, race work and many quality kilometres. The Intermediate Boys and Girls relished in the opportunity to work alongside the senior crews. This training will ensure crews are highly competitive as we enter the second half of the rowing season.

The Junior and beginner camp on the 27, 28 and 29 of January at West Lakes was impeded by hot weather and extreme wind. Those who attended the early morning training were able to progress well. This has prepared our younger rowers for the challenging competition in racing over the next few weeks.

No camp would be possible without the amazing support of the Rowing Parents Support Group. On behalf of all the students we would like to sincerely thank them for the ongoing support.

Overall, all the crews improved and are looking forward to an action-packed term 1, including lots of regattas, with Head of the River on the 17 of March.
