Scotchies in Parliament

On Tuesday, Sam Subramaniam and I visited Canberra to attend the 2019 federal budget speech presented by Josh Frydenberg.

Whilst in Parliament House during the day,  Sam & I were taken on a tour with access to the restricted areas with old Collegian Isabel Bailey, working as an advisor to MP Rebekah Sharkie, who we later had lunch with. We were exposed to the various media rooms such as that of Channel 10 & the ABC.

Furthermore, we had the opportunity of meeting with Penny Wong, another old collegian of Scotch. Later, we attended the Budget Speech from 7pm, an eye-opening experience that allowed us to better grasp the coalitions political values and motivations.

Overall, Sam & I, both interested in politics, were extremely fortunate to have experienced a day in Parliament, becoming better informed about the Australian political system.
