Sport Recap: Term 4 Week 1

Sport Recap: Term 4 Week 1

Just a week into Term 4 and we've wasted no time jumping into Summer sport!

New Coaching Staff

We have some exciting additions to our coaching staff in some Summer sports I would like to welcome aboard!

We have two new coaches to add to our Cricket staff for this season in Peter Sleep and Glen Turner. As many of you will know, Peter played for Australia and joins us with a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. Glen Turner also joins us as our Primary coach and again has a huge amount of coaching experience at youth level. We also welcome back Manning Mcinnery as our Middle School coach.

This season we are also blessed with some very knowledgable and talented coaches in our softball staff. Katie Sutherland Finch and Vicky McFarland join us from the USA. They are playing and coaching for Port Adelaide at the moment as well, so we welcome them and look forward to seeing our players in action under their guidance. We also have Regan Lambert and Maddie Cameron returning to coach our teams as well as our new Head of Softball Georgia Wilson.

We have also appointed a new Badminton coach, Saket Angrish. Saket joins us from Immanel. Saket has huge amount of experience both as a coach and a player. We really look forward to working with him!

Week 1 Results

The first week has seen some great results already for Scotch teams.

Our senior A Badminton team had a fantastic start to the season beating PAC in their singles and doubles competition to win the match overall, a tremendous start to the season! Our Senior B team had a close fought contest against Westminster but played really well in a very close match.

It was a very encouraging start for our Middle School team who picked up a strong and convincing win against Unley. Our Primary side narrowly lost to Rostrevor, and our First XI, whilst bowling and fielding well, just could not quite fire with the bat enough against a strong St Peters First XI. Our Second XI, playing against Trinity First XI, came very close but just couldn’t quite get the runs needed.

What a start to Term 4 for our Senior A Softball side, winning 14-1 over Seymour. As the season starts in Term 1 for Softball, this result puts the girls now in second place in the A league ladder just behind St Peters. Great stuff girls. With all our teams playing this weekend we wish them all the best of luck.

With over 20 Tennis teams playing this weekend, there were many good performances across all ages. Our Drive team got off to a great start beating Div 1 opponents Concordia  5-4. Well done all players involved in all ages.

In Volleyball, there were some great performances, particularly for our Middle School sides this week, with both Middle A and B teams winning their matches 2 sets to 1 versus St Ignatius. The Senior sides had a couple of tough matches this week again versus St Ignatius losing both narrowly on this occasion.

A good start to Term 4 in Sport! Well done to all our students in the first week back. With hopefully the better weather now on the way we look forward to the rest of the summer season.
