Term 2 Sport Ends on a High Note

Term 2 Sport Ends on a High Note

As Term 2 comes to a close, it was another impressive weekend of sport for Scotch, with a number of fantastic sporting performances.

Our Netballers continue to excel in the IGSSA competitions, with huge wins over St Peters Girls across all age ranges. Our Open A and Open B Girls remain undefeated for the season and sit top of the IGSSA Netball lLeague going in to the long break. Our yr 7A, 8A and 9A teams sit at the top of their competitions also.

Our First XVIII Boys Football side continued their good run of performances with an excellent win over a strong St Michaels side, off the back of a convincing win against Mercedes in Week 7. They will head off to their Gold Coast tour (18 July) in good form and growing in confidence - we wish them well. Our Girls Football teams go from strength to strength with convincing wins in Middle School and Senior School over St Peters Girls. Our Middle School Girls go in to the break on top of the IGSSA League ladder and remain undefeated. Our Senior Girls are top 3 and pushing hard - great news for both our girls teams.

In Basketball, a strong win for our Middle A team this week over St Ignatius while our Senior As lost their first game of the season, just falling short against St Johns. They have had an excellent first half of the season and will look to continue this into Term 3.

Our Hockey sides were in form, with both our Middle Gold team beating St Peters Boys and our Senior Boys, who have only lost one game this season, getting a strong 5-1 win over Pulteney Grammar School. Our Senior Girls suffered a narrow loss to Wilderness (0-1), but still have hopes of repeating last years title winning season in Term 3.

In Rugby Union, Scotch continues to grow its numbers with a strong representation in both the U14 and U16 Harlequins combined schools team. Our boys play in the SA schools mid week comp, which they won at U14 level last year and are looking to repeat this season. The boys have had some excellent results recently against PAC and will look to keep building on their performances into Term 3.

Collegiate Cup vs Pembroke (24 July - 3 August)

As soon as we come back from our long break, we are almost straight into our Winter Collegiate Cup campaign against Pembroke. The dates for this are 24 July - 3 August. As well as having all our traditional team sport competitions, we are also looking to add Rugby Union and Squash to the schedule. More information will follow this week about this, plus the full schedule.

Netball and Football Interstate Tours

Whilst many of our students will have a break from school sport this holiday, we do still have two sports tours travelling interstate. Our Senior Girls Netballers will be travelling to Melbourne on 1 July to compete in the Waverley International Schools Netball Tournament, a tournament they won last year, so wish them luck! The First XVIII Boys Football squad will (for the first time ever) be travelling to the Gold Coast for their annual Winter Football Tour. We wish all our players the very best of luck and look forward to hearing all about their tours.

In the meantime, a big thank you to all our Scotch athletes who continue to always represent Scotch so admirably, and a big thank you to all our community for all the continued help and support you give to Scotch sport. It is as always hugely appreciated. We hope you all have a great holiday and look forward to seeing you all in Term 3 ready to continue our winter season of sport.
