Week 5 Sport Recap

Week 5 Sport Recap

Over 40 Scotch teams were in action during the Week 5 fixture, highlighted by a big week for our Girls Cricket squad.

In the team's second week competing in the SACA Strikers Girls Cricket League, the Girls won convincingly over Pembroke. The Girls will follow up their big win by competing in the SACA All-Girls School Cup later this week. The tournament is a one-off event to celebrate International Womens' Day. Games will take place from 9:30am - 2:00pm at Park 25 (Narnungga) in Adelaide.

The Boys First XI lost a hard-fought game against Sacred Heart in the 40-Over format. The result means that the team finished a very credible 6th overall in the Senior A Boys (Division 1) League. Well done! Our 2nd and 3rd XI teams both had strong weeks, picking up wins over Pembroke and PAC.

Our Middle and Senior Boys Volleyball teams had fantastic weeks, with wins against Pembroke, Blackfriars and Mercedes.

With the long weekend approaching, a good number of teams have byes this week - be sure to refer to the weekly fixtures later this week to see if your teams are affected.

Collegiate Cup Update

Scotch will be competing in two Collegiate Cups this year (see the Week 4 Recap for more details) against Pulteney and Pembroke. There will be points up for grabs in all the games played between both Senior A and Middle A sides, as well as the Introduction of Girls Cricket and Athletics into the competitions where possible. A Collegiate Cup will then be presented to the overall winners. This is a departure from the traditional Intercol format, and means more chance to compete, particularly for our Middle School teams.

Competition Dates:

  • Scotch College at Pembroke (16 - 24 March)
  • Scotch College at Pulteney (3-7 April)

These events will not replace the normal IGSSA and SAAS weekend competitions. They will be additional events for our students to participate in. Schedules will be sent out for parents soon.
