Principal’s End of Term 3 Update

We come to the end of Term 3, when we are winding up so many activities that are tied to the winter months, and starting to look ahead to summer sport and a range of signature programs that run at the College in Term 4.

Last night, at the Boarders High Tea, we celebrated a year of achievement and community in Rosevear. With parents and staff it was wonderful to hear the reflections of our boarders, and their experiences. A common theme across the evening organised and led by Olivia Baker and Oliver Pern, our Boarding Captains, was the importance of the connection that their life together in the House has for them all both individually and collectively.

As we came to the end of our winter sports seasons, our oratory and other co-curricular activities over the past six months that theme of connection lived large in each of their celebrations and events. A constant refrain was the experiences that they had with each other, and what they achieved alongside each other, rather than wins and losses or places on ladders – that rings true for me as I attend reunions across the year where the conversation is never of ATARs or point scores, but always of the times our Old Cols spent with each other in their school days.

Foundation Drinks

The Scotch College Adelaide Foundation held their annual event last week.  Our Foundation stewards the philanthropic contributions our community make to the College, ensuring that they directly contribute to our building and scholarship programs.  It was a fitting celebration of the impact of our community’s generosity, where the impact of needs-based scholarships and our master planning vision for the future was presented to those who could attend.

Families who make philanthropic contributions to the College become members of the Foundation, and it is a wonderful community who actively shape the future of the College to support outstanding education.

2025 GAIL Conference

In coming days we will welcome over 120 people from schools from every continent as we host the 20205 Global Alliance of Innovative Learning Conference.  GAIL is an organization of which Scotch is a founding member, and it has provided extraordinary opportunities for our students and staff to build real-time global connections.

If you are around campus in the week beginning 29 September, please say hi and welcome our visitors from around the globe.  I look forward to sharing the excitement and learning for all our Scotch students, and those from our partner schools, as we come back next Term.

Looking Ahead

I look forward to seeing our students as Term 4 commences. I hope that, we discussed at today’s assembly, everyone can take time to relax, reconnect and recharge.  There is benefit in being bored, so often it can spark us to imagine wonderful things.
