End of Term 2 Update

We are at the end of the first half of our centenary celebration year and what a semester it has been!  The unveiling of the statue on Torrens Park Campus at the start of Term 1, to be mirrored by a similar event on Mitcham Campus in November, the Festival of Scotch and TEDxYouth in June all write large the depth and quality of the education we offer to our students. It is easy to think that all schools do extra miles like this. It is not true. TEDxYouth is a case in point. Such an event is unique in schools in South Australia and almost unique to schools in Australia and the world. It was a high impact event which says Scotch does more than just the basics. Our offer is constantly distinctive, and we are grateful always for the way in which parents spread the good word about the value-added dimension to Scotch life.  As we head into the second half of the year with the Junior and Senior School Musicals, the second half of the winter sports season, the full range of enrichment activities in the area of STEM, Entrepreneurship, Service Learning and Global Awareness, we remain confident that we offer a unique experience in the most sophisticated and supportive community I have experienced. We wish well all those who travel over the holidays, whether for family events or for school activities. Congratulations to our Junior School on running an excellent Kristen Exchange and look forward to what the students bring back from the GAIL Conference in Shanghai in the mid-term break. Next term we hold the Centenary Gala Dinner, where we will come together and celebrate all that is great about Scotch. In the latter part of the year you will also see increased information regarding the Wellbeing and Sports Centre – our Centenary Project. In all, it has been a remarkable 2019 thus far and we believe we are set fair to lay the foundations for an extraordinary next 100 years for this College. I look forward to seeing you all safely back next term. Dr John Newton Principal
