An Extraordinary Learning Environment
Located just 27 kilometers north of Quorn, Argadells offers our students access to some of Australia’s most spectacular natural environments, including Hannemann’s Gorge with its permanent rock wallaby colony, South Gorge walking trails, and breathtaking views from Mt Arden—one of the highest points in the region.
This extraordinary piece of land, with its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and deep cultural significance, represents a perfect environment for developing resilience, leadership, environmental stewardship, and strong peer connections that are central to the Scotch experience.
Building on Our Heritage
This acquisition builds upon Scotch College’s deep and enduring connections with the Mid North community, where many of our boarding families have called home for generations. Many of you will understand the significance of this region and the powerful learning opportunities it provides for young people.
The investment reinforces our belief in the power of experiential learning and our desire to provide students with immersive, challenging, and life-changing opportunities that extend far beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Community Partnership and Collaboration
Central to our vision is working collaboratively with the Quorn community and strengthening our relationship with the local Nukunu community. We see this as an opportunity to create meaningful partnerships that benefit both our students and the broader regional community.
Argadells will also present exciting possibilities for agriculture and land management programs, with the potential for community and tourism collaboration to support the property year-round.
Comprehensive Educational Opportunities
Argadells will become the cornerstone of our expanded outdoor education offering. Having a site for exceptional and extended outback programs for our students gives us the opportunity to extend and expand our programs to coastal locations across South Australia, building on our traditions of sailing, snorkelling, kayaking. In reality, our presence in the Flinders will provide greater opportunities for Scotch students to learn in marine environments than ever before. The property’s established infrastructure, including historic homestead accommodation, stone cottage, camping facilities, and extensive trail networks, provides the perfect foundation for developing progressive outdoor education programs that build resilience, leadership, environmental stewardship, and practical life skills.
Looking Forward
Over time, as we progressively build and develop our programs at Argadells, we envision opportunities for students to experience this remarkable property at different points across their years at Scotch. to the size, scale, and diversity of the property offers the opportunity for unique and varied experiences at different ages and stages.
While Outdoor Education will be the primary focus initially, Argadells has exciting potential for agriculture science, sustainability projects, entrepreneurship, cultural learning, leadership development, and more.
