Our Vision

Empowering young people to shape their world and its future

Grounded by courage, inclusivity, integrity and a commitment to tomorrow, Scotch College Adelaide is an ambitious learning community where all are known, nurtured and challenged.

We believe our education is the cornerstone of a long and fulfilled life, enabling young people to shape their world and its future and we are firmly committed to providing a holistic education for life, offering every student every opportunity to develop their own special talents. We are prepared to tread paths that are unfamiliar, look for answers to new questions and stand behind the things we believe in. We respect and embrace diversity in all of its forms, celebrate both our traditions and futures, and know we both are and part of a community.

We value authenticity in all we do, embrace the trust placed in us and committed to transparency and accountability in our relationships with each other. We imagine a better future for all in our care, and unwaveringly drive towards it. We are anchored by our history and forever curious about the world around us and our place in it.

So, what is the Scotch difference?

We learn about pressure, resilience, endurance and collaboration in and out of classrooms, on stages and in fields, on courts and in the bush. We learn what it means to be independent and what it means to share our challenges with others.

Being a part of Scotch is being known for who we are. We understand our community as a whole and as individuals. We start conversations, recognise individuality, and gather feedback. Knowing and nurturing people provides the grounding for all that we do. We allow people to flourish as learners, performers, athletes and humans; we know that is the measure of our success.

We create environments that blend high challenge and low threat, where people learn about themselves with support and a safety nets. High expectations help us extend ourselves, both as individuals and as a school. We ask difficult questions and search for diverse solutions.

Scotch is the sum of its parts. We respect and embrace diversity in all its forms and celebrate both our traditions and our future. We tread paths that are unfamiliar and look for answers to hard questions and stand behind the things we believe in.

We understand that trust that is placed in us as a school and as a community. Scotch is underpinned by authenticity in all that it does. We remain anchored by our traditions while engaging with the best thinking and contemporary research to inform the education of the young people in our care.

Learning is not transactional, it is transformational, and brings students, teachers, organisations and other educators together as partners. We share our best thinking and innovation as a lighthouse for education, a sustainable organisation, and as a place that welcomes all.

We imagine a better future for everyone in our care, and unwaveringly drive toward it. As our world changes, so will how we prepare young people to have impact in it. We aim for our students to be grateful for a Scotch education when they are 75, not just 18. We aim high because we have the imagination, the drive, the freshness, the culture and the desire to see your children prosper so the world around them prospers too.
