We come to the end of Term 3, when we are winding up so many activities that are tied to the winter months, and starting to look ahead to summer sport and a range of signature programs that run at the College in Term 4.
Last night, at the Boarders High Tea, we celebrated a year of achievement and community in Rosevear. With parents and staff it was wonderful to hear the reflections of our boarders, and their experiences. A common theme across the evening organised and led Issy McTaggart and Ben Bloomer, our Boarding Captains, was the importance of the connection that their life together in the House has for them all both individually and collectively.
However, with the breadth of events in past weeks that have brought community together, it feels like the importance of those connections is not exclusive to Boarding.
As we came to the end of our winter sports seasons, our oratory and other co-curricular activities over the past six months that theme of connection lived large in each of their celebrations and events. A constant refrain was the experiences that students had with each other, and what they achieved alongside each other, rather than wins and losses or places on ladders.
As a theme, that rings true for me from the reunions we hold across the year where the conversation is never of ATARs or point scores, but always of the times our Old Cols spent with each other in their school days. In the coming fortnight I will welcome past Scotchies back for their five year reunion, all the way through to a 50 year reunion. The people that return, often not having been back here for decades, tell stories of their times here from five-years old through the their memories of graduation.
Those stories are our history, and connecting with them is a real privilege.

Pavilion Development Update
Over the break, we begin work on the Pavilion redevelopment on Torrens Park Campus. A project for the College over the coming year, it will result in a multi-use space that will support teaching and learning across the school week, the full breadth of our sport program, and our connections with our Old Collegians community. If you have not yet seen the details, they are on the College website here.
Demolition will begin in the coming fortnight. Given its location adjacent to the main driveway the work will necessitate disruption to traffic and pedestrian flows as construction commences, preventing vehicle access up from Carruth Road as construction gets underway. As we move though the break we will be in touch with families directly regarding changes to pick-up and drop-off zones, and how we will manage vehicles onsite as we start Term 4.
With any project that creates something new will always be a short term disruption that may create inconvenience in some ways, but the long term benefits of that work will be impactful for our students.
